I am pleased to announce that Jamie McDougall will be joining the Cowan team as VP, Operations, Personal Insurance, Retirement, and Wealth Management, effective August 24, 2021. Jamie brings over 20 years of insurance experience in progressive roles at Gore Mutual Insurance, developing valuable expertise in claims, personal and commercial insurance, and business intelligence and analytics. Most recently, he has been working on innovation and client experience at Aon Reinsurance Solutions.
As part of the Executive Leadership Team, Jamie will facilitate strategic planning and execution to enhance profitability, productivity, and efficiency throughout our Personal Insurance, Retirement, and Wealth Management operations, regularly collaborating with executive and individual department leads to ensure alignment with our corporate priorities.
Jamie holds an MBA from the University of Calgary (1997), a B.A. in Sociology from the University of New Brunswick (1990), and completed the Canadian Securities Course from CSI Global Education in 2013. Jamie is an active industry participant, having served on the IBC Ontario Committee for many years, engaged on numerous industry advisory councils, and has recently authored textbook materials for the Insurance Institute of Canada. He has also served as a volunteer director for the Cambridge YMCA.
Jamie is married and lives in Cambridge. He has two adult daughters. In his spare time, Jamie enjoys Cycling, “Tough Mudder” obstacle course events, and SCUBA diving, having spent approximately ten years as a SCUBA instructor.
