Cowan Insurance Group, a leading Canadian insurance brokerage and consulting firm, was recognized at the Greater Kitchener Waterloo Chamber of Commerce Business Excellence Awards Gala on February 20, 2020.
Every year, hundreds of Chamber members attend the Business Excellence Awards Gala, including some of our region’s most respected and recognized leaders. Fourteen awards handed out over the course of the evening included Cowan receiving the inaugural Community Builder of the Year Award.
This new category required nominees to meet several standards, including support for charitable or not-for-profit organizations on an on-going basis, a willingness to make the community better, a vision of a better community while undertaking steps to make this successful, practicing good corporate citizenship, and making exceptional contributions by promoting community betterment.

Their passion for community strengthening is evident through their ongoing support of numerous Canadian charities, many of which are locally based in the KW region.”
Community involvement is of utmost importance at Cowan, with the proud and continued support of many local organizations. The Community Volunteer Program, supported by The Cowan Foundation, is just one example. This program provides a donation on behalf of an employee who has completed 50 hours of volunteer work for a Canadian charity. In 2019, over 2,000 volunteer hours and $30,000 were donated to charitable organizations through this program.
